We can’t think of anything better than relaxing with a great new book in one hand and our favorite drink in the other. At Once Upon a Book Club, we’re always on the lookout for our next favorite read—whether it’s fae realms, dystopian futures, or being thrown into the arms of morally questionable book boyfriends.

So here’s what’s stacked on our nightstands! We asked our team to share the books they’re currently reading, so here’s a peek at what’s keeping us up at night, and we’ve thrown in some slow burns and high-stakes tension for good measure.

Logan smiles in front of a colorful bookshelf. Text reads: "Logan is currently reading A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas."

Logan: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

"I'm INCREDIBLY slow with it because I'm reading a physical copy, which I never have time to sit and enjoy (I read audiobooks really fast), but I'm enjoying it so far!"

About the Book

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and Jennifer L. Armentrout, this first book in an action-packed and highly popular series is impossible to put down. When nineteen-year-old Feyre kills a wolf, she’s swept into a magical land ruled by dangerous fae—and her icy feelings for her captor, Tamlin, may just melt into something hotter than a bonfire under a full moon. Expect romance, betrayal, and a dark power threatening everything.

Tiffany stands smiling by a bookshelf. Text reads: "Tiffany is currently reading Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry."

Tiffany: Shield of Sparrows by Devney Perry

"I'm enjoying it because it's a slow-burn, high-stakes romantasy that weaves together political intrigue, forbidden magic. Similar to Cruel Prince!"

About the Book

Gods. Monsters. A warrior princess who never wanted the crown. In this romantasy, a cursed realm and a duty-bound heroine collide. Bound to a future she didn’t choose—and a prince she barely knows—our leading lady decides it’s time to fight back. Expect slow-burn enemies-to-lovers, magical rebellion, and major don’t-underestimate-me energy.

Teri stands by a bookshelf with a warm smile. Text reads: "Teri is currently reading Tale of the Heart Queen by Nisha J. Tuli."

Teri: Tale of the Heart Queen by Nisha J. Tuli

"This is the final book in a four-book fantasy series that I have been totally hooked on! Things are getting really intense and turning into a full-on saving-the-world situation, and I am absolutely DYING to see how this whole series is going to be resolved. (P.S. Nisha J. Tuli was a featured author in our 2022 Advent Novella!)"

About the Book

In this epic conclusion to the Artefacts of Ouranos series, Lor is on the run, the continent is rebelling, and freedom is looking an awful lot like another kind of prison. With magical relics to recover and deadly trials to face, Lor must figure out if she’s the heroine or the villain of this tale. Cue the swoon-worthy romance and gasp-inducing plot twists.

Sydney holds a book and smiles in front of a shelf. Text reads: "Sydney is currently reading Silver Elite by Dani Francis."

Sydney: Silver Elite by Dani Francis

"I had seen this one everywhere on Instagram, so of course I had to pick it up! I absolutely love a dystopian book, and this one definitely reminds me a bit of Divergent. The beginning took me a little bit to get into, but I quickly became invested in the story and the powers the characters have."

About the Book

Wren Darlington hides four secret psychic powers, which is…a lot. Captured by the enemy and forced into an elite military training program, she now has the perfect chance to sabotage their regime from the inside—if she can survive training, keep her powers secret, and resist the cocky, maddeningly attractive commanding officer breathing down her neck. Enemies to lovers, but make it dystopian.

Nicole stands in front of bookshelves. Text reads: "Nicole is currently reading Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman."

Nicole: Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman

"I've listened to all 7 books that are currently out on audiobook, and this is one of the best done audiobook series I think I've ever listened to! The voice actor, Jeff Hays, is amazing, but the story is also so funny and fast-paced, and the characters are so engaging that I went through the whole series in about a week and can't wait to keep going! It's the first LitRPG I've read, and it's had me hooked from the start!"

About the Book

Earth has been transformed into a global dungeon—and it's now the set of a galactic game show. Carl didn't sign up for this, but if he wants to survive, he’ll need followers, flair, and the ability to take down monsters with pizzazz. This LitRPG is hilarious, chaotic, and surprisingly addictive. Bonus points for a sarcastic cat sidekick.

Tristan grins brightly with shelves of books behind her. Text reads: "Tristan is currently reading Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry."

Tristan: Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry

"I'm honestly just excited to see where this story goes because of all the mixed reviews! 🤣But what I like so far is the adorable setting and the bubbly main character with her cute clothing accessories."

About the Book

Two authors, one elusive heiress, and a story with more twists than a curly straw. When Alice and Hayden are invited to write Margaret Ives’s biography, they find themselves in a tense standoff—both professionally and emotionally. As the octogenarian spins only parts of her tale to each of them, secrets pile up, chemistry ignites, and the line between fiction and truth begins to blur.

Ryan smiles confidently in front of a bookshelf. Text reads: "Ryan is currently reading End It All by Brea Alepou and Skyler Snow."

Ryan: End It All by Brea Alepou and Skyler Snow

"This is the 5th book in the Vitale Brothers series, and I have loved them all. I've only just started, so nothing has really happened yet, but the other brothers have been loveable, unhinged psychopaths, so I have no doubt this one will be the same."

About the Book

Runaway. Outcast. Reluctant Vitale. This MC romance drops you right into the mayhem of a family of morally questionable, dangerously tight-knit brothers. Add in a love interest who’s got “bad idea” written all over him, and you’ve got a high-heat, high-drama ride through a world where trust is earned—and sometimes torched.
