About the book

The Book of Cold Cases explores the chilling intertwining lives of two women connected by a dark past in Claire Lake, Oregon. In 1977, the town was rocked by the Lady Killer Murders where two men were killed under mysterious circumstances, accompanied by cryptic notes. Beth Greer, a young, wealthy eccentric, emerged as the prime suspect after being spotted fleeing one of the crime scenes. Despite her subsequent acquittal, the town's suspicions forced her into seclusion within her opulent yet eerie mansion.

Forty years later, in 2017, Shea Collins, a receptionist with a keen interest in true crime, runs a popular blog called the Book of Cold Cases. Her passion stems from her own brush with danger as a child when she narrowly escaped an abductor. When Shea encounters Beth by chance, she seizes the opportunity to learn more about the infamous Lady Killer Murders directly from the enigmatic Beth. Surprisingly, Beth agrees to a series of interviews at her mansion.

As the interviews progress, Shea's discomfort grows. Strange occurrences, such as shifting objects and fleeting glimpses of a mysterious girl outside, unsettle her. Despite these disturbances, Shea is drawn to Beth's intelligence and charm, compelling her to delve deeper into the truth. However, as their relationship deepens, Shea begins to question if she is merely befriending Beth or if she is dangerously close to a master manipulator with a hidden agenda. The story unravels a complex web of deceit, paranoia, and hidden truths, asking whether Shea has found a true confidant or if she is in the presence of a true criminal mastermind, with more sinister elements lurking within the shadows of the Greer mansion.

Such a great book. Love the different time lines, the different narratives and how you don't know where the story is going.
You can't trust really what you are told and pay close attention to the details. A bit of a slow burn but it's pace is really easy to follow.

The gifts truly bring the story to life and perfectly match what’s happening in the story. For example-the main character might have gotten a bracelet from her best friend in the story. And then you get that bracelet as a gift! It’s so fun because it’s an immersive experience.
